Band Q&A – Three Cheers Too Late

Today we spoke to Three Cheers Too Late! ‘3CTL’ are a five-piece band from New Jersey, USA! They’re composed of;

  • Anthony Santiago – vocals
  • Patrick Williams – lead guitar
  • Aidan Fitzgerald – Rythm
  • Chris Hetzler – Bass
  • James Domke – Drums

1) Who are your top 3 influences?

  1. The Story So Far
  2. Rise Against
  3. Neck Deep

2) How did you get your band name?

Our old friend and first bassist thought of it, no specific meaning, just thought it sounded cool.

3) How did you all meet?

James and Anthony have known each other since kindergarten. Neighbors their whole lives. Also grew up with pat too. Aidan and Chris are fairly recent additions we’ve met through craigslist.

4) What is your song writing process?

Pat, Chris or Aidan will bring a progression or a riff to the table. Then we all bounce ideas off of each other from there.

5) Plans for a year from now?

Hopefully… we’ll be with a label by then! Touring and putting out new music!

6) First gig experience?

We were 16, played at the zebu cafe in Freehold Borough, it’s no longer there though. Lots of people came to support us. We were super awkward and nervous but it was a great first experience.

7) Biggest challenge?

Recently we’ve decided to take the band more seriously. Putting out our first official EP recorded with Pete Zen, and booking our first lengthy tour for the end of June. Finally putting social media to good use and also debuting our first music video. We’d have to say the biggest challenge so far is definitely the networking and social media push. Slowly but surely growing.

8) Your dream tour to star on?

Definitely a ‘The Story So Far, Trash Boat and Rise Against’ tour.

9) Favourite thing about performing

When people know your songs, or are just starting to get into it. It gives you the best feeling.

10) Favourite song to play live?

For an original: Settle for less. It has really fun and hard hitting bridges, great energy. We also love playing our cover of 1000 miles.

11) What inspired your recent songs?

Aside from wanting to write in a pop punk style, the songs, lyrically, are inspired by a feeling of guilt that we aren’t where we “should” be in life.

12) What do you do when you’re not musically involved?

Anthony is a volunteer fire fighter and emt, Pat is currently in nursing school working for a hospital, Aidan is an assistant teaching, Chris is a barber, and James works at an animal boarding facility. We all enjoy video games, netflix, sports, movies, tattoos, seeing other bands, and bars!

13) What gear do you use?

Pat: Epiphone les paul, fender jazzmaster, fender bassbreaker amp, jekyll and hyde od/distortion, tubescreamer, digitech polara, boss dd5, boss md500

Aidan: Gibson les paul, fulltone ocd into a marshall

And unfortunately we have this big peavey bass amp Chris has been using cause we’ve had it for so long. Currently in the market for an upgrade. And a Fender precision bass.

James: has a mapex armory shell kit with all A customs except for one S series crash

14) In your opinion, what’s your best song?

As of right now, ‘Kicked In’ is very catchy, flows the best!

15) Who has the worst dress sense?

James! He always wears gym shorts and can always see his sweat…

16) Funniest show story?

When Anthony spilled a gallon of water all around another bands gear on a Friday the 13th show. He had to use his hoodie to clean everything up!

17) Pizza! What do you all have?

Roni, buffalo chicken, peppers and onions.

18) Who has the worst tattoo?

James, with his scarred up 1800s man on a bike.

19) Most annoying member?

Definitely Anthony, he can just be so loud!

20) Fast forward and you’re millionaires. What do you do with the money?

Get nice places to live for ourselves, help out our families, and donate. also of course produce more music.
