Hometown Heroes are based in the capital of Italy! Their members are;
- Ric – Vocals/Guitar
- Frankie – Vocals/Bass
- Lorenzo – Lead guitar
- Lillo – Drums
1) Who are your top 3 influences?
- State Champs
- Four Year Strong
2) How did you get your band name?
We took our name from All Time Low’s song called “Hometown Heroes; National Nobodies”
3) How did you meet?
In 2015 Ric met Frankie at a show of his old indie rock band and they started a band called “High Effect” playing also with the old members of that band Ric started when he was 14. From 2017 the band changed its lineup a couple of time and in the end Lorenzo & Lillo joined the band.
4) What is your song writing process?
In most cases we come in the studio with all of our ideas (lyrics, riffs, a drum beat, various ideas) and we put them together. In most cases a song starts in a way and becomes a complete different thing in the end.
5) What are your plans for a year from now?
We are recording a new album right now, which we aim to publish in October. We just came back from a tour in Eastern Europe and we’re taking our time to finish writing. We’ll then hit the road again. Netherlands, Belgium and UK maybe.
6) First gig experience?
We played the first time as Hometown Heroes in this really cool place in Rome called Traffic Live, which hosts the majority of the foreign bands that come to play in our city. It was an amazing show, people went crazy. We went crazy too.
7) Biggest challenge so far?
This last tour actually. It’s been our first major task to do, we had to settle a bit in the beginning, but after that it’s all been good. Going on tour is the best thing to happen.
8) Favourite thing about performing?
We always try very hard to change the way we play a song from the album version, so when we perform live we like to push our songs to the limit, adding, removing and changing stuff, and seeing how the songs make people react is the best thing that we can get from a performance.
9) Favourite song to perform live?
It’s hard to choose one song, we love them all. We would say it depends on the period, so right now we’ll stick with “Crowd Surfing”, our latest single, just because it’s the closing track of our live setlist, and it still gives us the chills when we perform it live.
10) What inspired your recent songs?
We are writing about personal matters and the situation around us, where our new songs are starting to see the light. An album is always a screenshot of a certain period for us.
11) What do you do when you’re not musically involved?
We’re always musically involved! Just kidding, we also have jobs, study and do any kind of stuff everybody does, beer mostly!
12) In your opinion, what’s your best song?
It’s hard to choose. Let’s say that right now we can’t decide between ‘Crowd Surfing’, ‘Yes, I Swear’ and ‘Grey’. But the new songs that we are recording are taking the spot right now…
13) Who has the worst dress sense?
Nobody, we’re all fashion victims.
14) Funniest show story?
On tour, we arrived at a venue that, for a long series of reasons, didn’t have a drum kit available at the place. It was closing time for nearly every place we could find in the city, we had to run to a place to pick up a drum kit from a music school, and made it just in time to set everything up and start to play. Incredible!
15) Pizza! What do you have?
We have Capricciosa, Margherita, potatoes sausage and truffle and mushrooms and ham.
16) Most annoying member?
Lollo, because he’s stronger than us, and with his brute force makes us do what he pleases. The incarnation of tyranny and evil.
17) Who has the worst tattoo?
Frankie. He has our band logo.
18) Fast forward and you become millionaires. What do you do with the money?
Open a studio, and discover & fund the smaller bands that deserve to be heard, open a few clubs and bring pop punk again where it belongs. It’s a mission.
