1. Who are your top 3 influences?
Gio: Biggest influences aren’t solely bands per say-but more so style of genre. But as far as that goes I love 80s soul and definitely influenced from heavier backgrounds as well.
Brodie: Biggest 2 hands down are Green Day and My Chemical Romance, but I listen to way too much music to be able to pick a third.
Devin: For the band my biggest influences are of course Paramore and then probably You Me At Six!
2. How did you get your band name?
Google name generator!
3. How did you all meet?
4 of us met at Musicians Institute while we were attending school there! Gio basically saw our instagram ad looking for a new drummer and he was the perfect fit!
4. What is your song writing process?
Devin: Typically, I write lyrics and melody and then bring a finished or close to finished song to the band and they put music around it!
Brodie: I typically just play around on my guitar until I find a chord or melody that sticks out to me, then I try to see how I can develop a progression from that idea.
5. What are your plans for a year from now?
Brodie: Hopefully to be in the process or in the works of recording a full-length album!
Devin: Yes! I’m ready to start working on new songs for a full length and to start touring this next year!
6. First gig experience?
Brodie: I was actually in a praise band back in Texas for my first gig experience, we played a fundraiser festival for the Raylyn’s Heart Foundation where we helped to raise money for the family of a young girl who was unfortunately born with a severe heart defect.
Devin: My first official gig was a performance for a Boys and Girls Club event with some friends from our college! My mom was in charge of the event every year!
7. Biggest challenge so far?
Leah: Working with so many different people and learning to rely on others and really pool all of our time and resources together to make this work has been a huge challenge, but we all love it so much and believe in the band so much it doesn’t matter.
Brodie: Being on the 24/7 grind of an up-coming band and working full-time during the week!
Devin: I definitely agree with leah. It’s scary having your baby’s (music) fate put into the hands of other people. It’s hard finding someone that has the same vision for the project as you.
Gio: Biggest challenges are getting people who say they support your craft to ACTUALLY support you.
8. Favourite thing about performing?
Gio: Favorite thing about performing live is all the energy we feed off each other to put on an amazing performance. I know it’s good when people (the crowd) actually move and have FUN!
Devin: I was an avid show goer growing up so watching people pit and sing along at our shows almost brings me to tears because that was and still is me! I can’t wait for our first crowd surfer!
9. Favourite song to perform live?
Gio: Favorite song for sure is “So sure”. It’s fast and I hit really hard on it. But then again I do most songs…
Brodie: Easily ‘So Sure’, the song itself just has so much energy and it’s impossible not to jam despite how many times I’ve played it.
Devin: It’s our slower song, but Blame Game is my favorite lived because it captures a lot of emotion for me and is my favorite to sing!
10. What inspired your recent songs?
Devin: All the songs on the EP are about my relationships. Romantic or platonic. The most recent we’ve been working on isn’t on the EP but it’s a song about heartbreak and not being treated right.
11. What do you all do when you’re not musically involved?
Leah: I have a pet snake, Simon, who I love I lot.
Devin: I don’t do it enough but I’m a hardcore beach lover. Swimming in the ocean is one of my favorite things ever.
12. In your opinion, what’s your best song?
Leah: I think Arts & Crafts is technically our most complicated song music-wise, it’s got a lot of different moving parts, harmonies, key changes, and is super fun to play, but I also love Candy and it’s always stuck in my head so it’s hard to choose between the two!
Gio: Candy is the most popular so that works for most people.
Devin: Candy is lyrically one of my best songs I’ve written and it’s super catchy but I think Arts and Crafts will be a fan favorite!
13. Who has the worst dress sense?
Gio: Me, I’m the most basic bitch.
Brodie: Definitely me, my entire wardrobe is band shirts and jeans.
Devin: I love Brodie but I gotta agree with him! Haha!
14. Funniest show story?
Devin: I think Leah will probably agree with me, We played this fundraiser show back in January with our friends at the California Emo Collective and during ‘Arts & Crafts’ we have a part Leah and I sing together and look at each other and on my way to her I knocked over her mic stand and we had to pick it up and she couldn’t even sing the part!
15. Pizza! What topping do you all have?
Leah: Cheese! It’s a classic!
Devin: I am vegetarian and I used to work at a pizza place so excuse me if this is weird but I love eggplant, spinach and jalapeno.
16. Most annoying member?
Gio: Devin because she always destroys the blunt or joint by eating it.
Devin: Leah is just insane so I say Leah.
17. Who has the worst tattoo?
.Leah: I’ve got this tattoo that says “Stuff” on my ankle, I’ve got 2 Naruto tattoos, and I’ve got an illuminati triangle.
Devin: Leah has some for sure. I have a big spider on my arm that I got purely because it was the biggest one on the flash sheet and it was $20. It’s stupid because I’m stupid.
18. Fast forward and you’re millionaires. What do you do with the money?
Leah: Buy my parents a house and everything they’ve ever wanted, I would buy like 5 more snakes and probably a dog and then save or donate the rest!
Gio: Dog sanctuary/venue/skatepark!
