- Anthony Fondale – Keyboard/Keytar/Vocals
- Alex Raz – Lead Guitar/Vocals
- Arslan Khan – Drums/Vocals
1. Who are your top 3 influences?
- Imagine Dragons
2. How did you get your band name?
Imagine a bedroom of kids trying to come up with a cool band name. That is literally how it went. There was really no rhyme or reason as to why, we just liked the sound of it.
3. What inspired your lyrics in your EP ‘From Dust to Gold’?
“Leaving Home” was inspired by musical aspirations coming to fruition, but the inevitable feeling of loneliness that comes along with it. Imagine traveling all over the world every day with your best friends for years, but simultaneously missing the family and people you left back home.
4. What is your song writing process?
Our songs either start with Anthony arranging the music or Vincent writing the vocal melodies. Usually the melodies come first, but it’s all spontaneous. Before anything can even be done, however, the entire vibe and vision for the song has to be agreed upon. Sometimes though, Vincent will just disappear by himself and come out with completed songs like “What’s The Gain”.
5. What do you hope to achieve a year from now?
That is such a hard question to answer because everything just happens so fast in the music business. As long as we take care of our business with content, this next EP, and more videos, we feel like the sky is the limit for us.
6. What was your first gig experience like?
We started off fairly young and played our first show as ‘Recess’ at Mentor Mall. We were just some kids with big dreams having fun playing dad music. Since the beginning, everything just felt right. Years after, we found our sound and boom: here we are.
7. Biggest challenge so far?
Looking at our timeline of existence and how long different challenges took to overcome, I’d probably say discovering our sound and niche. Figuring out your role and comfort zone, along with many other things in the music industry, is a long drawn out process that involves years of failures and successes.
8. Favourite thing about performing?
The pure passion we deliver during every song. Getting goosebumps while playing, and then looking out at the crowd and seeing them physically feel that same energy is an amazing feeling.
9. Should you come to England, where is the first city you want to perform?
London! Wembley Stadium is one of the most iconic venues in the world. That is an ultimate goal for musicians of all ages across the world.
10. How did you all meet?
Alex and Vincent met at a very early age at a music convention and immediately hit it off. Soon after, Anthony, Vincent’s older brother, picked up a keyboard after an opening in an old project with Alex and Vince needed to be filled. Arslan then auditioned for the band in 2010 and was an immediate fit with us. We played a couple songs, he killed it, and then we played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 because it was the hottest game out at the time. Plus, he lived a little under two miles away. It was basically meant to be and we’ve grown up together ever since.
11. What do you do when you’re not musically involved?
We all stay busy working full-time jobs to help finance everything that comes with being in a band. Besides that, we all love to play basketball or football before rehearsals when the Ohio weather permits. And Rocket League. Anthony, Vincent, and our videographer Matt have a serious addiction to that game. However, they’re damn good at 3v3 standard, so it is at least somewhat justified.
12. Who has the worst dress sense?
Slan when he shows up at rehearsals in pajama pants because it’s a little cold outside.
13. Funniest show story?
Every single show of ours is a funny story when you have a bunch of clowns in one place together barely being able to contain their excitement to get on stage. I mean c’mon, have you seen our roadie Ryan? This one time we were staging our gear next to the main stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland, and Ryan completely wiped out and fell backwards. He was sitting on a rackmount box with wheels, working hard, and Slan lifted a small box that completely threw off the balance and took Ryan’s seat out from underneath him. We were laughing too hard to help him, including Matt who captured the entire scene on camera. Ryan wasn’t too happy. Make sure you stay in tune with our upcoming YouTube content, because that clip will definitely be used in one way or another.
14. Pizza! What do you all have?
Anthony: Anchovies, sausage, mushrooms, banana peppers, and cheese.
Arslan: Just cheese.
15. Most annoying member?
It’s a tie between Alex or Anthony. Alex is naturally goofy and spontaneous by nature, but Anthony knows everyone’s buttons and presses them well, especially when we are on the road and people are trying to sleep.
16. Who has the worst tattoo?
Alex is the only one with tattoos, so we might have to ask him that in a few years so we can see which one he regrets the most.
17. Fast forward and you’re millionaires. What do you do with the money?
First, we’d give back to everyone who’s been here with us along the way and those less fortunate to be there financially. Then, Anthony would probably spend 900k on sound libraries, Vincent would recreate the Garden of Eden complete with drone surveillance, Arslan would complete the car collection of his dreams, and Alex would buy candy. A lot of candy. Probably twizzlers.
